Fox Searchlight Pictures to Domestically Distribute Julie Taymor’s TITUS

LOS ANGELES – October X, 1999 – Fox Searchlight Pictures and Clear Blue Sky Productions today announced that Fox Searchlight has acquired the domestic distribution rights for TITUS, the feature film directorial debut of Julie Taymor. Jody Patton, Conchita Airoldi and Julie Taymor produced TITUS, and Paul G. Allen was executive producer. The film stars Academy Award® winners Anthony Hopkins and Jessica Lange, as well as Alan Cumming, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Angus MacFadyen, Harry J. Lennix and Matthew Rhys. Recent Fox Searchlight pictures include the forthcoming BOYS DON’T CRY, WAKING NED DEVINE, WOMAN ON TOP, THE ICE STORM, THE FULL MONTY and others. TITUS will open at select theatres in December 1999, and nationwide in early 2000.
TITUS was shot in Rome and Croatia by acclaimed director, Emmy, Tony and OBIE award-winner Julie Taymor. She was joined by a talented ensemble in TITUS, including a creative team comprised of five-time Academy Award®-nominated production designer Dante Ferretti (KUNDUN), two-time Oscar®-winning costume designer Milena Canonero (CHARIOTS OF FIRE), two-time Academy Award®-nominated composer Elliott Goldenthal (INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE), director of photography Luciano Tovoli (BEFORE AND AFTER), and Oscar®-winning editor Francoise Bonnot (MAD CITY). Clear Blue Sky Productions produced and financed TITUS; Ellen Little and Robbie Little are co-executive producers; and, Overseas Filmgroup is the film’s sales agent.
