Clear Blue Sky Productions, Killer Films and Renaissance Films Announce THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS

SEATTLE Ė Sept. 1, 2000 Ė Clear Blue Sky Productions, Killer Films and Renaissance Films today announced their first joint motion picture project, THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS. The film, adapted for the screen by director Rose Troche (GO FISH, BEDROOMS AND HALLWAYS), is based on the critically acclaimed A. M. Homes short stories, which chronicle bittersweet modern day angst in suburbia.

An outstanding cast is attached to the project including Glenn Close, Dermot Mulroney, Timothy Olyphant and Patricia Clarkson. The film will start its 8-week shoot in Toronto and New York in mid-September. THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS will be produced by Dorothy Berwin of In Film (BEDROOMS AND HALLWAYS) and Christine Vachon of Killer Films (BOYS DONíT CRY). Jody Patton (TITUS) will executive produce for Clear Blue Sky Productions alongside Stephen Evans and Angus Finney of Renaissance Films.

THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS, the first co-production by the three companies, is part of Clear Blue Sky Productionsí five-picture deal with Renaissance Films, and CBSPís general development and production deal with Killer Films. Clear Blue Sky and Renaissanceís first collaboration, THE LUZHIN DEFENSE, debuts in September at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film was directed by Marleen Gorris (ANTONIAíS LINE) and stars John Turturro and Emily Watson. The film is being distributed in the US by Sony Pictures Classics.

All international sales for THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS will be handled by Renaissance Films.
